What to try something different? Hakan will share with you a gentle introduction to Arabic Stick Dance, also known as Tahtib. This workshop will provide you with a short history of Tahtib, how it differs from cane dance, and a vocabulary of movements with the Tahtib. This class is open to all levels, though a basic understanding of core Belly Dance concepts is highly encouraged. Some loaner tahtibs will be available on the day of the class. You are welcome to bring your own. We suggest a straight, smooth, and lightly sanded, wooden dowel that goes from the floor to a few inches above your belly button, and between ¼ and ¾ inch.
