Spring Into Belly Dance: May and June Classes

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your movement practice, and my new belly dance sessions offer two inspiring ways to do just that. Beginning in May at the Wilkins Community Center, Belly Dance Fitness (Mondays, 5/4–6/29, excluding Memorial Day) blends low-impact conditioning with accessible belly dance technique. Each class starts with a mat-based warm-up to activate the core and improve body awareness, then flows into drills and combinations designed to help you move with confidence. Whether you’re brand new or looking to deepen your foundation, this supportive, all-levels class meets you where you are—while gently challenging you to grow.


On Thursdays (5/7–6/25), Belly Dance Fundamentals offers a welcoming introduction to the art form, with a focus on classic technique, musicality, and expression. You’ll explore isolations, steps, and short combinations while learning about the rich history behind the dance. Classes begin with light cardio and conditioning and close with a calming yoga cool down, creating a balanced and enjoyable experience from start to finish. Reserve your spot ahead or drop in and experience the joy of movement this spring.

Enjoy this fitness fusion belly dance class designed to support strength, movement, and technique. This class is a great fit for students new to belly dance, those looking for a low-impact workout, and dancers wanting to build a stronger technical foundation.


Class begins with a mat-based warm-up focused on core strength and body awareness, then moves into belly dance technique, drills, and combinations. The pace is supportive and accessible, making it easy to move at your own level. Belly Dance Fundamentals is a fun, welcoming class—perfect for beginners and dancers looking to refine their technique. You will learn the fundamentals of classic belly dance style through an engaging, supportive movement experience. Each class introduces basic isolations, steps, combinations, and short routines while building confidence, musicality, and body awareness. We’ll also touch on the history and styles of belly dance along the way.


Class begins with a gentle cardio and conditioning warm-up and ends with a relaxing yoga cool down. You’ll also receive an introduction to finger cymbals (cymbals will be available to borrow) —no experience needed. Wear comfortable clothes like yoga pants and a t-shirt, and bring a water bottle.
